Learning experiences

Well, it is different being there. In only about 2 days, I have realized how hectic life is in the US. Everyone here is much more laid back. I still see people doing what I would expect (walking without looking, talking in slang, looking bored with tourists) but it seems so much more laid back.

I am sure most of you would be asking about the money. Well, first let me emphasize that I am staying in a tourist trap. I am in a coastal town that offers so many stores and junk places that I am amazed. There are so many ways to lose your money here, from food to clothes. But that aside, the prices are not that bad. If you try to think of everything in terms of US Dollars, it is a major rip off. However, if you take it as it is, a lot of stuff is cheaper (not by much, but you can tell).

Also, the portions here are amazing. I stopped for fish and chips (but of course!), and even though it wasn't wrapped in paper and dripping with grease, it was huge! I had probably a 2 pound fillet with lots of fries. The only thing odd was that the vinegar was put on the chips rather than the fish.

Tonight, I am going to try a more formal dining (pub or restaurant) and we will see how that goes.
